Pinky Passap

Back in the summer, I got a Passap Pinky knitting machine at a garage sale for $30. Now that is a pretty good deal. However, it is a Swiss made machine, and I know how to use the Japanese machines. It`s a whole new way of knitting on a machine.

Yesterday, Stephanie came to help remind me what she taught me in the summer. This time I was quite successful. By the time she left, one sock was complete. It only took 5 hours to do! Around 3, I cast on the second sock, and by the time (3:40 pm) our music students arrived for their lessons, so I had to vacate the room. But, the sock was almost done! I just have the foot and toe to do - the easy part! Maybe another 15 minutes or less work left.

Stephanie is such a good, patient teacher. It must have killed her to see how I manipulated the transfer tools. It was painful for me! A little more practice though, and I will be cruising.

Photos of the completed socks will be uploaded as soon as the finishing (grafting and seaming) is complete.

I love knitting machines. Good thing - I have about 6 of them. A Jones 588HR (my first and favourite), 2 Singer 360s with ribbers (standard gauge), a Brother 260 (bulky), Artisan double bed (bulky), Studio SK155 with 155 ribber, this Passap (standard), and a Singer 327 with ribber (standard). That makes 8! If I cleaned out the shelves in the backroom of the shop, I`d bet I`d find a few more.

Actually, we fooled around with the sample piece for a while, so it was more like 3 hours for the sock. You did real good girl!
