Obsessed?(K)Not me!
Lately, I have noticed that whenever I type a word that begins in the letter N, I usually type it as "KN". For example, just now I typed "notice" as "knotice". And I can't tell you how many times I that typed the word "yarns" for the word "yards". I don't even think about it, my fingers just do it. Sadly, spell check doesn't catch that error. It makes for some pretty funny emails. Like the time I emailed a friend and told her I "kneed about 3 yarns of fabric know." It was meant to be "I need about 3 yards of fabric now. Spell check didn't catch even one of the 3 errors.
Maybe this knitting thing is a little bit out of control. A few minutes ago, I was checking out our weather over at the weather network. One of the ads that display over there was for "50% off dock knits". At least, that's what I that's what I thought it read. I said to myself, (and maybe asked my golden, Norma Jean), "what the heck are dock knits?" So, imagining the link to be one that would take me to a casual, boating clothing site with a 50% off sale, I clicked on it. And ended up at site selling "dock kits".
Just this fall, a fellow knitter and spinner told me she had a problem with fleece this year and asked if I did too. I couldn't imagine what kind of problem fleece could cause. You could spin it, dye it, use it for thrumming, needle felt it, stash it, or just play with it. Fleece is wonderful! I love fleece. So I pursued the issue. How could fleece be a problem, I asked? I offered to take it off her hands if she didn't want it, or I could help her fix whatever the problem with the fleece was. Apparently, her dog has fleas. Not fleece. Really, it wasn't my fault I misunderstood. I'm just really focussed. She should have been more specific. Doesn't she know I have a one track mind?
It's been over seven years sincethis obsession began I started planning to open my yarn shop. (Oops, I typed yarns instead of years just now) What marvelous fun I've had! What an amazing feat to have accomplished! Along the way, I have met countless wonderful people who have only enriched my life. I simply had no (not know) idea how much fun this ride would be.
