Balls, I say!
For many, many years I have wanted to fill clear glass balls with pretty yarn to hang on the Christmas tree. Well, I finally have done it!
After some minor adjusting (you can read this as totally taking all the yarn out of a ball and repacking it. Again and again.) I like the final product.I might have mentioned that pink is my favourite colour.
But then, there is the pretty purple mohair....mmmm I love mohair!
Mohair, close up
Sparkly gold
Some soft, fluffy fibre - merino and silk
And festive red, green and white
This was a quick and easy craft to do. Kids would love to make a few of these, I'm sure. I used glass balls, but plastic ones are available too. Then I just grabbed a bunch of yarn with lots of texture and started stuffing. Look in your stash for that eyelash yarn you got to make that scarf, and then the eyelash craze died. You need about 4 yards per large ball and less than 2 for the small balls (3 inch is the large size; 2 inch is the small). So a few skeins will make about 50 balls. The balls were purchased at Michael's and they are currently at 50% off. I used a popsicle stick to push the yarn in, popped the cap back on, added a ribbon hanger, and I was done.
Purrl will probably have the balls in the window by the cash register knocked down within 10 seconds of noticing them, so here's how that window looks before she wakes up.
Isn't it pretty? And Pink!
