It really is true
- I have been told that wool is so much more warmer than acrylic or acrylic/wool blends.
- Wool socks are my favourite type of socks to wear.
- Wool mittens and socks will keep your hands and feet dry and warm if they happen to get wet.
Today, up here "north of seven" we are supposed to be having a major storm. It's kind of a major disappointment stormwise.
(Let me just politely explain that "North of 7" (meaning the highway) has become a popular euphemism for "backward and/or unreliable. Ottawa folks say "South of 17" meaning the same thing. I use "north of 7" a lot in daily conversation.)
I didn't want to use my "good" mittens to go outside to work clearing the snow, so I grabbed two unmatching newfie mitts from the mitten box. One was made from Naturally Merino & Fur, the other from Patons Decor (75% acrylic, 25% wool). The Gedifra mitten, although it was wet, kept my hand almost dry and very warm. The Patons Decor mitten - well, I had to come in because my hand was soaking wet and freezing cold.
The blue mitten is the wool one, the black and red mitten is the acrylic wool blend. When they're dry, they were the same size - look how much the acrylic has stretched! Mr Knits even tried them on and agreed that the wool mitten was damp, while the other mitten was soaked. Although this wasn't a controlled science experiment, it proves to me that wool is a more comfortable fibre.
Since my hand was so cold, and I couldn't knit, I decided baking some croissants would help. And they did. Mmmmm, yummy!
Stinky, for some crazy kitty reason, has decided the smooth top of our stove is the best place to sleep or watch household activity. This behavior started last night. The stove is not new. She has just decided this is where she is going to be. End of story. She is quite resolved to not move from the stove top too. I can clean all around her, slide her back and forth and she will not get down. If I put her on the floor where she belongs, she jumps right back up. Cats! They have a mind of their own.
A little after dinner snooze
Waiting for the croissants to come out of the oven
It looks like the pink elephant water sprayer will come out of retirement so I can train Stinky to stay off the stove top. A few squirts and we should be all back to normal. I hope.
