Dizzy from the fumes
I saw so much yarn this weekend! I walked every aisle in three warehouses full of wooly, silky, bambooy goodness. Having set out with a strict budget in mind, I blew it at the first stop. Yes, I totally blew it. So, it was all downhill from there. Once the purse strings are open, the money flies out! Adding 5 more bags of silk doesn't seem to cause too much concern as - well, I was already over, so I didn't have to keep track of what I was spending anymore. Right?
I really can't remember everything I brought back with me, but I'll try to list it all. First, books - about 30 new to the store titles. My favourite so far (I've only looked at three) is "The Best of Vogue Knitting 25 Years of Articles, Techniques and Expert Advice". Phew, that is a long title. I also like the "Yarn Girls Guide to Kids Knits". I got a few crochet titles too. Also in the mix are Nicki Epstein's Knitted Flowers and Crocheted Flowers. Some Vogue on the Go books, too. That doesn't add up to 30, does it. Oh well, blame it on old age.
Let's move onto the yarn. Many of you will be pleased to know that Austermann Step is back in the house. Fifteen different shades to be precise. All of these
I also got the Wisdom Yarns "North Pole" sock yarn collection - 6 Christmasy colours with a golden sparkle plied throughout. Here's a screen shot from the Universal site. I got the last pack of 12, so if you want to knit a sparkly pair of Christmas socks, you'd better be quick. I have dibs ontwo one of them. I really like all of them, but Mr Knits needs a pair of the red/white/green yarn - Merry Merry.
Also, in the bags (and bags) of yarn is some Ella Rae Shibu a lovely silk yarn, some SWTC Yang, a sparkly, sequined wool, silk, bamboo blend, some Diamond Luxury Mulberry and Merino....I know there was more in the bag, however, being overcome by the fumes has indeed clouded my memory.
I tried to get some of the Frill Seeker yarn, but it is all out of stock until December, and the Katia yarn that is similar is also out of stock for about a month. This yarn is the hottest thing out in the knitting world right now. I totally misjudged its popularity at TNNA. I am so ashamed. I did preorder Katia in lovely spring colours though, so we will have some come spring time. You can make a scarf for approximately $15 - $20.
Don't believe the "New Quality for Fall 2010 - Now in Stock" Diamond hasn't updated the website since Thursday. They truly are sold out. I know, because I checked the shelves.
As previously mentioned Cascade Fixation in 26 colours is now in,
and 30 colours of Scheepjeswol Donna is ready for shelving. If I could only find some empty shelves that is.
I wish each and everyone one of you could walk the warehouse and get dizzy from the fumes with me just one time. I know you'd love it.
