From the Dyepot

I've been catching up on my dyeing. A few weeks ago, I tried dyeing roving, and the results were much better than I had anticipated. Then, with that little bit of fun and adventure finished, I returned to the business of dyeing yarns for the shop. However, instead of the experimentation I usually do, I planned out the colourways ahead of time, and only took the dyes out for those colours. No fooling around for me. I stayed focussed on creating the colours I had picked out, and was rewarded with spectacular finished yarn.

My favourite - yellow, red, olive, brown, gold

blues, purples, teals, black

red, orange, raspberry, olive

lime, orange, olive and yellow

all together now

I had an idea that it might be fun to use the theme colours from Microsoft Publisher to dye yarns. I figure if they look good enough on documents, they might just look cool on your feet.

The first colour scheme I'm going to try is Bluebird (blue, yellow, orange and grey), and then I'm going to try Cherry (red, pink. lime and yellow). Concourse also looks interesting. Stay tuned for dyeing updates. Or you can simply look at my fingernails to see if I've been at it. This week they were an attractive shade of purple!
