Friday Night Knit Club

Last week's Friday night knitting was fun! Good food, good friends and good knitting. There were 5 of us this first night, and we hope to add to our numbers.

After enjoying our supper and a little bit of wine, we began some serious knitting. At least some of us did. Betty and I played with my iPad, and she kindly downloaded enough apps that will keep me busy for some time.

Katie brought a finished object she had worked on that afternoon. It's a great project bag for any craftster. Eco friendly as it uses men's shirt sleeves for the main part and the shirt itself for the strap. Katie used sleeves from two different shirts - one for the outside, and one for the lining. The contrasting fabric is just a leftover from another project.

She added pockets to the interior, and put a few safety pins on the cuff to attach stitch markers and other notions if needed.

There is a seam you can't see just above the cuff that closes the bag bottom. I think it's so cute. I have a feeling there will be a run on used men's shirts at the Goodwill in the coming weeks. I know I'm going to check a few thrift shops out when I'm visiting in Toronto this weekend. Stay tuned to see my new project bag(s)!
