Weaving and more
Today was our last weaving lesson, and we finished dressing our looms and started the weaving using huck lace patterns. Believe it or not, I think I might like it. Lynn and I dressed the looms almost by ourselves, too. Purrl is quite happy the loom is dressed as she needs a place to relax.
She will stay there even while I'm moving the shuttle back and forth! I warped the loom with Infinity Soy Silk from SWTC and I'm weaving with SRK Ovation. It's turning out nicely, and has a wonderful drape and sheen. I must be liking it - I've got about 20 inches woven so far today.
The amazing thing is that Lynn and I went to Petawawa, and Pembroke today via Killaloe, Wilno, Alice, Round Lake....and more I can't remember. We stopped at the gates of Foy Provincial Park to check if we had cell service (we did). We did indulge in a wee bit more retail therapy - all of mine was for the store - and then we headed back home. What I'm trying to say is that I haven't had much time to weave, especially since I finished Music Dude's hat. Mr Knits has graciously allowed me to photograph him wearing it. The colours are showing up much better in this photo.
Now that I've finished it, I can start another hat. Only this time I will do a proper brioche stitch, since I have discovered the errors of my ways.Totally off topic - see the picture on the wall in the background ? I took that photo when we vacationed in Ucluelet. It is one of my favourite photos I have ever taken. And the fireplace and mantel? Mr. Knits and I designed and built them. Yes, we are clever.
