Still here

Am busy working on the revised www.logcabinyarns.com website. Most of the "big" stuff is done, now it's the fiddly little detail work left to be done. Like listing all the yarns in stock, all the books, all the needles (yikes! I have lots of needles). As I said, the main pages are done, and I think they look lovely and are much easier to navigate than the current site.

Yesterday, I attended a seminar in Madoc that featured social networking and business. Now, Mr Knits thought that sounded "kind of snobby and was surprised I would participate in anything like that." He had visions of me walking around talking about my little yarn shop with a bunch of people. I suppose that 's what it sounds like. But it was really about using Facebook, Twitter and Upcoming to promote the shop's events and products. I had misread the brochure and I thought it was how to set up and administer the different accounts. Actually, it was just an overview of what Facebook and Twitter were and how they could benefit business people. I was a wee bit disappointed in the seminar content, but I should have read the email more carefully.

In spite of that fact, I did learn a few new things - one is Foursquare.com, where people who register for Foursquare can get discounts, hear about special sales, and frequent buyer bonuses with participating businesses. Only the Foursquare members have access to these specials. Once I have it all figured out, I will send out a special launch email and blog post.

I have been busy knitting another "Music Dude's" hat, only this time, I doing the stitch correctly, not some crazy interpretation of the brioche stitch. I like this one better, but - and I can't believe it! - EVERYONE likes the garter stitch lace brioche hat better. What the heck is that all about? I have only a few more colour repeats before this hat is ready to be cast off and seamed. I will post photos of both and y'all can vote your favourite. I will also post the pattern once the second one is done. Actually, I'll post both so you can do the one you like best (which probably will the the garter stitch lace one!)

Must get going and do some more work on that website. The self imposed deadline of November 1st is looming. And, by the way Christmas is only 8 weeks away. 58 days to be precise. Scary, isn't it.

Nancy, if you want any help with social media stuff let me know!

Biggest problem with foursquare is that there isn't a good data connection (3G/edge) in Northbrook - at least for us Rogers customers. Which means that I can't check in!
