Looking for a little online fun?
Well, look no further. However, I must warn you that http://www.kijiji.ca/ is more than a little addictive. So, click on the link, and then click on your choice of city. I first choose Toronto GTA as it has the most entertainment value listings. Then I scroll down to almost the bottom of the page and click on free. Now the fun begins....here you will find stuff that you really might like - for free!
But most of the fun is trying to read some of these ads ( or "adds" as many posters write) to figure out what they are trying to get rid of. I admit I had a really hard time discerning what "ladis" was. I kept thinking it was "ladies" and they just forgot to type the "e", but the description said something about two of them laying in the back yard, and I just didn't believe someone would just give away two suntanning women for free. I figure as a woman we are worth at least a few bucks. Then the light bulb went on - they meant "lattice". This is where "hooked on phonics" and creative spelling can cause some misunderstandings.
Then there are the ad(d)s where people are asking for stuff for free - like cars(!), complete home furnishings (must be clean), cameras, cell phones that work and so on. They sort of go like this "I'm finally moving out of my parents' basement into a two bedroom apartment and need furniture - a sofa and matching couch, preferably blue, a queen sized mattress and boxspring, must be clean, a working television, bedroom furniture, a table and at least 4 chairs. Any kitchen stuff like dishes and pots are also needed. Delivery of items would be appreciated as I don't drive." Now kudos go to this young man for moving out of his parents' basement, and for having the guts to post such an ad(d), but really! All he needs to do is to:
All cheekiness aside, there are some really good items that I would like to have been able to get, but we're just too far from the big smoke. And I think finding new homes for old stuff is a great idea rather than taking it to the dump. So, go have some fun reading the ads - you might find something you really were looking for.

- get a job
- go to Goodwill and buy the furniture or
- failing taking the responsible route - beg for the stuff, but arrange for daddy to help him pick it up.
