Eureka, I found it!
My trip south of the border yesterday was so much fun. I took a very special sooper sekrit friend with me...I can't tell you exactly who this friend is; you'll have to come to knitting on Wednesday to find out.
Anyway, we did a lot of shopping...we went to Big Lots (fun - I got black floor mats with pink daisies for my car for $10 and a Martha Stewart foldable cutting mat for $4), Ollies (more fun!), JoAnns (no fun there!) Walmart, Sam's Club and we went to Paneras for lunch (super yummy).
Back in the winter, I was in JoAnns Fabrics and saw this and wanted it. I mean I really wanted it.
I went to the Butterick pattern drawers but didn't find the pattern. I asked for help, but was told that if it wasn't in the drawer, they didn't have it. Then I went back in May and was told the same thing. Yesterday was a total repeat performance. But this time, I had the smarts for sure. I took a picture of the poster so I could show it to anyone who cared enough to help me locate this pattern.
On the way home, we stopped in at Fabricland. You see, my sooper sekrit friend was having a hard time finding fushia fabric. So while I was there, I asked for Butterick 4226 and was handed a dog coat pattern. What? So the quick thinking person I am, I showed the saleslady the picture. And I showed her the closeup of the pattern manufacturer and number (click on the photo to make it bigger if you can't read the number on your screen)
Bingo! She knew the pattern - her sister had made it! And the reason I couldn't find it was that the poster was totally, unmitigately mislabeled. It is a McCalls pattern - number 5870. A far cry from Butterick 4226. I couldn't buy it fast enough.
So, now I have the pattern and must make something from it - the quest begins for the perfect fabric. I do have some lovely lavender fabric so that's a start.
I did pick up and process through Canada Customs my three shipments - I think I may have ordered too many hand and sewing machine needles. At least I will be able to say, "Why, yes I do think I have just the needle you're looking for right here." I also got more of the coloured Handi Tools - 18 to be exact, so if you were waiting for them, get them quickly. The first batch cleared out in no time. This time I am going to get a green one before they go on the wall.
On a knitting note - Cloud Two is almost done - a few more repeats and then it's cast off time. I'm already planning to make a third one. Sounds like another one of my knitting jags, doesn't it. Remember the French Press slippers? The Ruffles Scarf? The Tea Cosies? But this little cardi is just the cutest thing. It's a relatively quick knit for its size and impact, not too easy to make it boring and not too difficult so I can't knit and talk. And you all know how I like to talk. And talk.
Remember to let me know if you're coming to the class this Saturday on wrapping stitches. It will be fun. I promise.

For a moment there I thought maybe you'd found the missing ice cream stick....
