The continuing saga of the Young and the Rugless

  1. Each flower weighs about 8 grams
  2. When all the flowers are completed, their combined weight will be 1920 grams
  3. In Imperial measurements, the flowers will weigh 4.3 pounds.
  4. That's a lot of flowers
  5. Each flower uses about 18 yards of yarn.
  6. Combined, the total yardage of the 240 flowers is 4,320 yards
  7. Or almost 2 1/2 miles of yarn
  8. That's a lot of yarn.
  9. Each flower takes 10 minutes to crochet
  10. That means it will take 2,400 minutes to complete the rug
  11. Or 40 hours
  12. Or 144,000 seconds.
  13. I prefer the sound of 144,000 seconds - it doesn't sound as long.
  14. That's a lot of time.
  15. A counter has been installed in the upper right corner of the blog so I can track my progess. Cool, huh?
  16. If I make 2 flowers on the way to work and 2 flowers on the way home, it will take 60 work days to finish crocheting the flowers, but
  17. If, in addition to number 14 above, I make 6 flowers while watching "The Young and the Restless", it will only only take 24 work days
  18. That's a lot of Y&R, but who can get too much Victor really? (He really is being Victor-like now, isn't he? And do you think Daniel will tell Phyllis Lucy is his baby? And what about that lawsuit? And where's Adam - maybe he and Skye are back together.)
Stay tuned for the next episode of the Young and the Rugless. Brought to you by the owners of Log Cabin Yarns - a great little yarn shop in the middle of nowhere Northbrook. Come in and see us sometime. You'll be glad you did.
20 flowers done as of 7:00 pm 3/6/11
