ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, today I discovered that Maggie Jackson, an Irish knitting designer who is from the same town as my dad, is going to be at The Yarn Cupboard in Syracuse NY on September 9 - 11th.
On the 9th, she is presenting a fashion show of over 40 garments, along with a talk about fit and drape. I am copying the description of this event directly from The Yarn Cupboard's website:
We will kick things off with hor’s d’oeuvres, followed by an exciting fashion show with models showing nearly 40 garments. Maggie will be explaining the designs, offering tips for different sizes and ages, including how designs can be worn in a variety of styles. Maggie will also use her 30 years of experience as a leader in fashion design to demonstrate which yarns suit which styles, complementing the drape and the hang. After the show you will have the opportunity to try on the outfits, with Maggie’s personal advice on your individual style and color and maybe even an Irish joke or two!
I really want to attend this event and with Syracuse being only a 3 hour drive, I plan to go. I shall be leaving for Syracuse early on the 9th (to allow for lots of shopping time) and then attend the fashion show event in the evening. Saturday the 10th is reserved for all day shopping, and then return home on Sunday.
I spoke to Susan Miller, the owner of the Yarn Cupboard, and reserved 4 fashion show tickets. If more than 4 people want to come, I can get more tickets. If you would like to join me on a two day yarn focussed shopping trip, let me know as soon as possible. I know of a few nice reasonably priced hotels we can stay in, but I am open to suggestions.
The Carousel Mall is nearby - here's an excerpt from the malletin.com website
