Reprieve
On Saturday, I had planned to leave the shop early in the afternoon to drop the kittens off at their new home. I loaded my suitcase, computers, iPad, the rainbow socks, Robbie's repaired guitar and the kitties into the car around 1:15pm. Just as I was coming back into the shop to kiss Mr Knits goodbye, a couple of customers came in. Then a couple more. And then some more. I buzzed Mr Knits and asked him to get the kittens out of the car as I thought I might be a little while...well, it was just a few minutes before 4pm when the last customer left.
It was too late to take the kittens with me, as they were going to Bowmanvillle and it's a two hour drive. I had to have them at Jim's by 5pm, so there just wasn't time to get there that day. I must say I wasn't at all disappointed that the kittens are staying at Chat-eau Knits for another week!
Since I had also planned to help Matty and Terri move this weekend, so I just had to go to Toronto. I also had promised Robbie I would return his guitar that Mr Knits repaired for him and bring along the rainbow socks he had designed for me to knit. He loves those socks!
In April, Robbie drew a picture of a sock with the colours he wanted. And we all know what Robbie wants, Robbie gets. The sock is a basic toe up sock pattern, knitted with 6 colours of Cascade Fixation on 3.5mm needles. Using Judy's Magic Cast on, I placed 20 stitches on the needles, and increased to 40. I changed colours every 10 rows. I began making the gusset when I changed to the green yarn, increasing 1 stitch from the edge every other round up to 60 stitches total.
Cascade Fixation is a lovely, soft, stretchy yarn. I figure with all the stretch in the yarn, the socks will wear out before Robbie outgrows them.

Here is the little musician putting on a concert for his mom, baby sister and me. I love this photo.
Then while we were preparing dinner, he was strumming in the backyard all by himself! Seriously, he only put the guitar down while we were eating!
And, here is a pic of happy little Nicole!
