A year or so ago, I discovered on the interwebz a Gil Elvgren (1914-1980) pin up of a girl knitting a top down sweater on circular needles. Then I promptly lost the link. Last night, quite by accident, I found it again. Gil Elvgren was a famous pin up artist for an advertising agency in the 1930s to 1960s, who honed his craft studying under the Haddon Sundblom (the gentleman famous for the Coca Cola Santa Claus). Before I lose the link again, I'll share the pin up with you....

The painting was done in 1952, and you know, I think the outfit she's wearing looks like what the young girls are wearing today. All she needs is a belly button ring to complete the look. However, I'd say she needs to knit a few more rounds before that sweater is done!
