Winds of Change!

I'm so excited about our secret plans I could burst. The groundwork for the changes had been mouldering for a while, with Mr Knits and I commenting that we should do this or we should do that, but we never acted on the "big" one.  We've contemplated the big one ever since we moved Northbrook and I thnk we're ready to go ahead. A lots of little changes happened over the years - like the lesson room being finished complete with a kitchen sink and our cash desk moving more than once. But these coming changes are HUGE! And they will remain secret for now.

I will tell you the target dates for the changes are September 1st, January 1st and April 1st and Mr Knits will still be the music guy and I shall still be the yarn lady. So that part of our business will not change. I can't decide whether the January or April target is "the big one". I'm sure though when you walk through the doors on January 2nd, you will be surprised. That is, of course, if we meet all our deadlines. A couple of friends (or should I say accomplices) are in on the changes, and are being very supportive. Thank goodness for friends!

Lynn and I went to the gift show on Sunday and we saw all things beautiful and not so beautiful. You gotta wonder who thinks up some of this stuff!  We did put in orders for all kinds of giftie type things - handbags, hats (I love these hats!), teapots, Christmas and Hallowe'en decor items, night lights, vases, some really cool three tier wire baskets that I plan to use for displaying yarn, some Valentine day things, and about 5 more pages of things I can't remember.

One of my favourite parts of the show is looking at all the different display ideas...we did take some photos of a few ideas, and you will see them in action right after Hallowe'en. A popular idea we have seen at the past few shows is to cut down a small tree, strip the bark, paint it white and put a few flowers in a single colour at the ends of the branches and hang some dangling sparkly things on the other branches. Bad description, really pretty when done. So, if you see me walking around my property with a hatchet in hand, you'll know what I'm doing. You needn't worry about Mr Knits' safety.

Tomorrow is knitting day, and I thought it might be nice to do some "porch knitting". In preparation, I cleared off the porch, moved the large table so we cold serve tea and goodies out there, washed (yes I washed the porch floor) and brought some more chairs over. Then I checked the weather forecast for Wednesday. So, once again, knitting will be indoors in the air conditioning. I don't think any of us want to sit and sweat. It has been a wonderfully warm summer and we still have at least another couple months of good weather to enjoy before the snow flies.

I hope.
