Feed Your Creativity

Well, I've picked up the starter package for Kollage Yarn's  Feed Your Creativity, and am now the proud owner of yarn and patterns for ten, yes TEN, projects that need knitting. Quickly. So, here's a proposition for you to consider.

If you would like to knit one (or more) of the projects to the pattern's specifications and display it at the shop until the program ends, it will be returned to you to do whatever you want with it. (I have read that line four times now, and it still isn't clear to me, and I'm the one writing it!)

What I'm trying to say is that if you knit it (and I provide you with the kit free of charge) you get to keep it after the program ends.

But, and there are a couple of buts (stop giggling, I said buts, not butts)...the knitter must make a swatch that meets the pattern's specs, and the swatch as well as the project must be knit and returned to the shop no more than 2 weeks after picking up the kit. Most of the items are less than 200 yards of yarn, and all but the socks are worsted weight projects knit on 4.5mm or larger needles. Most will take less than ten hours to complete.

I have started August's project - a cabled hat - and haven't even finished the ribbed band. The shop has been so busy with customers, I've had no knitting time there, and it's our fiscal year end, so we're busy in any spare time we have getting that organized.

Here's a link to Kollage's website with photos of the projects http://www.kollageyarns.com/feedyourcreativity.php      and here's a photo of August's project.

The yarns are so beautiful; soft, smooth, with a lovely sheen. Some are combined with silk,, some are made from milk protein, others from corn. The program's focus is to acquire or hone your knitting skills over the course of a year - you get November and Dcember off for good behavior! Each of the projects will be presented in a class or two and there is a limit of ten kits per month. The classes will be offered on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings and are free with the purchase of the kits.

I'm really excited about the program - and being the first Canadian shop to offer it. I hope you all will enjoy it too.
