Knitting time
Yesterday, Mr Knits and I had a discussion about what to do today what with the storm coming. So we decided I would stay home and look after the dogs, and he'd stay at the store and look after the snow. And snow it did. This morning when I was nudged awake at 5:30 am by two impatient dogs, there wasn't much snow on the ground, and I started taking photos of our patio table (no, we didn't get it put away this fall.) There was about 2 inches on it at 7:30 am and over the day only another couple of inches fell on it. That is until about 2:30 this afternoon when the snow stopped blowing and starting accumulating. Where the snow barely came up to Emma's tummy, it's now up to her chest. Good thing she loves the snow...guess that's the Lhasa in her.
Being home has given me so much quiet knitting time. I am churning out socks like a knitting machine the past few days. In keeping with my Knitting New Year's resolution to finish my UFOs and not start anything new, I have finished up the following: an entrelac backpack (pink Painted Forest), the Big Montana vest in pink Freedom Wool, lime green Tofutsies socks, red On Your Toes boot socks, gold Australian Merino Lame socks, one Mojo sock, a Freedom Wool Button Band hat, mauve and green Tofutsies socks, a Needful Yarns Elba triangular scarf that started out as a shawl but now is much more useable, and a ruffled scarf from Elba in blues and beige. It feels so good to have all these items finished.
Next up are another pair of boot socks in lilac, and a diagonal cardigan from Ashford's Spring magazine. I almost finished this cardigan in the spring, but misplaced the pattern book. Then I found it and promptly misplaced it. Then I found it, and you guessed it,,,lost it AGAIN. This time, I found it inside my insulated lunch bag.(How did it get there?) Being the somewhat clever girl I am, and knowing I'm going to lose the book again, I scanned the pattern and saved it to my computer. It's harder to lose a computer, but give me time, I'll do it.
It feels like I have been away from work a week, and am so glad I was getting the Customer Appreciation stuff done ahead of time. I would be going crazy about now if I hadn't. So all that's left to do is finalize what I'll be serving on Saturday, and posting some of the specials online for those of you who can't come in. Do check the blog on Friday evening or Saturday morning for the list.
I was checking the blog statistics again today, and I just don't understand the appeal or lure or whatever it is about these phentex slippers. Blogpatrol (the blog counter provider) will show the top twenty Google/Yahoo searches that lead people to my blog. And every single one of them relates to the phentex slippers posts. If someone could please tell me why it is so popular, I would truly appreciate it. Are they some trendy, retro fad, or were they featured in a movie or book or tv show? That being said, I do like the slipper I have made, and must make the mate soon. My other foot is getting so cold.
I'm hoping to get into the store tomorrow if the roads are good enough to venture out. The Weather Network is changing the forecasted amount of snow and if we get another 10 cm I won't be going in. Mr Knits sent some photos into the Weather Network today, and they posted them online. If you go to http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/caon0488 you'll see them partway down the page. He's having too much fun with my camera these days.
See you Saturday!

I am currently knitting a pair of those phentex slippers for my sister-in-law... The slippers are popular in my family and my SO's family because all our grand-mothers use to make them, so I guess there's a sort of sentimental value. Also, they last forever and they are warm.
On an other note: unfortunatly, I won't make it to the custumer appreciation day, I will be having a christmas dinner with the in-laws, giving away hand-knit phentex slippers.
