9 days later...

It's been a while since I posted - Christmas visitors, the Boxing Day storm, a power outage and a visit to Toronto all got in the way. But I'm back. The storm on Boxing Day was quite powerful, yet beautiful.

This is what the highway in front of our house looked like in early afternoon. Some trees were so loaded with snow they were bent over, touching the ground. Of course, that's not good news if they break the hydro lines - which they did. By 6 pm, over 3000 households up in our neck of the woods were without power. Some still don't have power over 100 hours later! We were fortunate that our power was off for about 24 hours total, spread out over three days. We do have a generator (to keep the ice cream from melting and so we can watch the Y&R) and we heat with wood so we were fine.

I went for a short stroll around our property to survey any damage. Many, many branches came down, and the pathway down to our waterfront is blocked, but the view was breath taking.

I worked on my new website by candlelight; not a romantic thing to do, but different. Thank goodness for laptop as they don't need constant hydro power to run, and the batteries recharge quickly.

While in Toronto, I picked up some yarn - Saphira by SWTC. A nice, soft 100% merino superwash chunky hand dyed single. How's that for a description? Here's a photo of the yarn and a small something knit with it.

3 skeins of Saphira to the first person to guess what the "small thing" is. You can either leave a comment or email me. I brought in 12 different colourways - and was shocked to find I didn't get any blue!!! What on earth was I thinking! I shall order some of the blue colourways tomorrow. I did get 4 greens, 3 reds,/pinks 2 browns, 1 dark grey and 2 lavender/purples. For the month of January, the price is $8.75 for a 100 gram/120 yard ball. The regular price is $12.95 starting in February. One skein will make a pair of mittens, or a hat. Two will make a lovely scarf. A sweater takes about 7. Free patterns are available with the purchase of the yarn. I have most of the patterns from SWTC already downloaded ready for you.

Finally the new Marble Chunky and Baby Marble have arrived. You know how quickly it sells out, so if any of the following colours tickle you fancy, reserve them now. I'm told Kertzer has already sold out of the initial order! Price is $12.99 and 312( I think) meters per 200 gram ball.

Trying to be artsy, I took the following photos today to give you an idea of the new chunky colours. I think the photos turned out quite well given the skill of the photographer.....

And the Baby Marble - 4 delicate shades of 100% super soft acrylic

Tomorrow, I'm back to Toronto for my family Christmas dinner on New Year's day. I'll be staying with my son Matty and his darling wife Terri. I'm getting quite excited about seeing the world's most adorable, charming and intelligent grandchildren. I can hardly wait.
