Phentex Slippers Part 2

A quick update on the slippers...I didn't get to knit on the way to Lynda's, but I did on the way home. These slippers take a ton of yarn, and at least half an hour per 8 row repeat. I think the pair will take more than 200 grams of yarn too! That's almost half a pound! I decided to use Mauch Chunky in a pretty red and white - very Christmasy. Add some green holly leaves in lieu of the pompons and you're ready for Christmas morning.

I have 5 repeats done, and the pattern says I need 3 more before decreasing. I'm thinking I need 5 more to fit my size 8.5 feet. And, then I have to knit its mate. These slippers are a little more fiddly than I like to deal with...the yarn gets twisted if one isn't meticulous about how the yarn is carried across the row.

On the Yarn Harlot's blog today, she mentioned the Sparkle yarn (scroll down to June 2nd's post) by Dream in Color. We stock it at Log Cabin too - in white for dyeing. I ordered in a bunch of skeins in June, reordered it in August and have a few left if anyone is interested. The yarn is composed of 98% merino and 2% sterling silver. At just $15.95 per skein, it's a great deal. 450 yards of sparkly fun. Great for socks, scarves, shawls, baby things...anything you want glittery.
