Happy Canada Day, eh!
Hope the rains hold off so you all can have some fab fireworks today. It's sad that the celebrations for the most part have been cancelled in Toronto, but if you go out to Kinsman Park in Pickering you will be treated to a wonderful fireworks show. We used to live so close to that park we would watch the fireworks in our backyard (or living room, depending on the mosquitos).
John and I went to Mississauga to a couple of our suppliers yesterday to pick up some new stock. I came back with a trunk load of Perth - a 70% merino, 30 % acrylic mix that is just scrumptious. Machine washable and dryable too. 18 colours with my favourite being the Mint. Perth, sadly, has been discontinued, so it's at a special price of $4.59 per 50 gram, 109 yard ball. It knits to a worsted/aran weight so it's perfect for afghans, sweaters, mittens, hats, and scarves. I brought home two bags of each colour, and then reordered several more bags as it's just so nice. It makes a great substitute for Decor or Encore. The colours are very clear and bright, and the yarn just glides through your fingers.
Mint is on the right.
I'm not usually a yellow person, but I LOVE the Butter colour on the left.
And, true to fashion, I love the pink on the left too.
Then to add the excitement this morning, a small Tilli Tomas arrived today (actually yesterday, but we didn't check the mail), and to my delight I received the Grommet Trinket Bags. The photo of the bag is in the top row, centre.
I have been busy getting the yarn kits ready for the summer...this year they're in little takeout boxes. Right now, there are kits for Newfie mitts, Newfie Hats, several different sweaters and shawls, socks, and scarves. If I can get my act together, I'll have some side to side socks kits ready for this weekend.
Small takeout box of Newfie mitts, needles, pattern and even after dinner mints.
Large and small Yarn to Go - Today's Specials
Last, but not least a Newfie Hat.
Now that summer is here, I hope to see many more cottagers & summer people at knitting on Thursday. Please join us from 1:30 to 3:30 for knitting, fun and goodies.
