I spent most of today, when I wasn't helping customers, photographing and typing out the pattern for the scarf I have been working on recently.

I had wanted to make a scarf that was truly reversible, but after trying several reversible stitch patterns, all of which knit up to create a fabric that didn't have a nice drape. This stitch pattern, while not truly reversible, looks good on both sides and really complements the beautiful, soft merino wool. I used 4 skeins of Tilli Tomas Aspen, in the colour Atmosphere to create this 72" scarf. Three skeins makes a nice cosy 54" long scarf. Here is the pattern for your knitting pleasure:

Finished size: 54 or 72 inches long, 10 inches wide
Gauge: 20 stitches to 4 inches in stockinette stitch on 4.5mm needles
Materials: 3 (4) 50 gram balls Tilli Tomas Aspen (130 yard/50 grams) 100% merino wool,
4.5 mm (US 7) knitting needles
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Directions: Using long tail method, cast on 45 stitches. Repeat the following 16 rows until scarf is the desired length, ending on either row 7 or 15.

Row 1, 3, 5, 7: Knit 5, *purl 5, knit 5* repeat from * to * to end of row
Row 2, 4, 6, 8: Knit 5, purl 35, knit 5
Row 9, 11, 13, 15: Knit 10, * purl 5, knit 5* repeat from * to * to last 5 stitches, knit 5
Row 10, 12, 14, 16:Knit 5, purl 35, knit 5

Bind off loosely. Weave in ends and block lightly.
