I'm still here!

It's been a long time since I last posted....amost 3 weeks to be exact. I am so ashamed. But a lot's been happening around here.

First, a bunch of new yarn arrived from Nordic Yarns.

Specifically it's called Fritidsgarn, a nice soft pure wool that is great for winter wear and felting. I've knitted a mitten in the Camoflage colourway.

A pair will take about 1.5 balls and Fritidsgarn retails for $4 and $4.69. There is a great self striping colourway too. Another project that this yarn is suited to is Cowichan Sweaters. I've had one on the back burner for about a year now. I should get going on it as I believe with the Winter Olympics coming soon, this will be a popular item.

Next, I picked up my second order of books in Watertown this week.

I've been waiting since June for the Swing, Swagger and Drape book! I saw the garments at the TNNA fashion show, and loved them.

I had quite the adventure at the border too. I suppose a Canadian gentleman (using the term loosely) one car ahead of me and one booth over said something the US Border Guard didn't like as suddenly his vehicle was surrounded by 4 more border guards. With guns! They took him into the immigration booth, and took his car over to the inspection/impound area. Of course, none of us could go through customs while this was going on so I had a great ringside seat. I did consider taking a photo or two, but thought the guards wouldn't like that.

And the Louet spinning wheels are coming in the week! Spinning classes start on Friday, and there is room for one more person. So if you ever thought you might like to learn to spin, here's your chance. Class run every Friday from 4-7 pm for 6 weeks. Cost is $120, plus materials (fleece, etc).

Finally, Purrl was "fixed" on Monday. And she's been hell on wheels yesterday and today. Crazy kitty alert for the knitters coming this afternoon!

The witches hat had been on the table, but Purrl thought it belonged on the floor where she could kill it. She is a great table top clearer. Absolutely anything that can be knocked off shelves or tables is. She is such fun though.

Plus, I'm working on a sooper sekret sock pattern - I'll show you the prototype when if you come into the shop. And I do need a couple of test knitters. Let me know if you're interested.
