Eureka!

I found it...the distributor for the book "Seven Things that can Make or Break a Sweater" by Margaret Fisher. I obtained a signed copy of the book at TNNA in June and have been trying to find a distributor in Canada. No luck. Yesterday though, through fluke, I came upon R&M West Coast Enterprises and we figured out a way for us to get the books here. I do have to pick them up in Watertown NY, and you all know how much I like doing that, so it's no problem at all. I have ordered 6 copies of this book, as well as several other titles I have wanted to get in here for some time. Some of the other books are "New Pathways for Socks" by Cat Bordhi, "Pints and Purls" (a very funny book about knitting and consuming adult beverages) by Karida Collins,

"Knit One Below", the perpetual calendar "365 Knitting Stitches". I'll be picking them up on Monday the 14th, so the books will be here on the 17th for our knitting get together.

In other news, the building is painted now, the doors will be done on Tuesday - but not sage green as first thought. I'll keep the colour a surprise until it's done. What a change the coat of paint and the new roof has made. We are so delighted.

Last weekend I went to Toronto to visit with 2 of my boys and their families. Geoff called on Saturday asking if I wanted his projection screen (which I did) and a data projector (which I really really did want), so off I went to Whitby for a visit and an overnight stay. The next day Geoff, Jackie, Robbie and Molly (the dog) and I went for a walk in an off leash dog park in Oshawa. It was so much fun seeing all sorts of dogs running around visitiing with each other. They all got on so well. The forest paths were very much beaten down and smooth too - not like up here with the gravel and pine needles. I suppose have hundreds of dogs a month tearing through gets rid of the debris quickly.

Then it was off to Matty and Terri's new house. I helped them with the final load of stuff from their apartment, and they took me out to dinner at My Thai - a restaurant on Bloor St W. It was scrumptious. Later that night I was telling Matt I couldn't figure out how to make my free patterns on the website downloadable in pdf format. Well, he fixed it for me in two shakes of a lamb's tail. So, if you go to http://www.logcabinyarns.com/ and click on the free patterns button, then click on the pattern you want, there is a button that says "download this pattern". Click on that and voila - a pdf will begin to download, all ready for you to save or print.

And, I don't know if you've noticed, but our new separate websites are up and running now. Mine is http://www.logcabinyarns.com/ and Mr Knits site is http://www.logcabinmusic.ca/ . Our main site is still operational and will redirect you to the new sites. Our new webhoster is so much more Nancy friendly. I can upload changes to the site and the site doesn't crash! I'm loving it. So look for changes on the website soon. More free patterns, and hopefully online shopping will be ready before Christmas.

I did mail out a Marble Chunky scarf pattern to everyone on the mailing list and a few people have had a problem with row two. It actually is correct - you do end with K2, but one of the K2 stitches is from the pattern repeat. So row 2 should read "K2, *P2, K1 repeat to last stitch, K1.

For everyone who isn't on the mailing list - here's the pattern. Sorry, no photo yet.

Materials: one 200 gram ball of Marble Chunky from SR Kertzer- and 6 mm needles (10 US).

Pattern:

Cast on 36 stitches.
Rows 1 & 3: K1 *P1, K2, repeat from * to last 2 stitches, end with P1, K1.
Rows 2 (WS) K2, *P2, K1, repeat to last stitch, K1
Row 4: Knit

Repeat rows 1-4 until scarf measures desired length, casting off on a 4th row.

Have fun this long weekend, and take care.
