Making Progress...
Yesterday, I made a determined effort to get some patterns written up for the shop. I was successful in completing not one, but three of them: Entrelac Backpack, Entrelac Sock Sack and Shibori Scarf. As soon as I get into the shop I will print a bunch off, and as usual, they will be free with the purchase of the yarn to complete them.
The Shibori scarf uses just one skein of Kertzer Ovation, or Rowan Kid Silk Haze. Currently I have 15 shades of Ovation in stock. If you have a knitting machine stored under a bed somewhere, this is a very quick project - you can make several for Christmas presents in one day. Otherwise, the knitting would take about 4 hours, and is very straightforward.
The Entrelac Back pack (photos will be available soon) and the Sock Sack use the same pattern, but very different weight wool. The sock sack uses just one skein of Twilley's Freedom Spirit!
I am working on the Striped Child's Henley & Fruit Hat right now, and this may be ready for tomorrow, but I doubt it. This sweater is knitted in Rowan Cotton Rope, a chunky cotton, so it's great for all season wear. I have the colours shown, plus black in stock.
Here's a sock I made using SRK's Trenton, 100% superwash merino:
I love how it striped - it reminds me of a garter snake. I modified a 48 stitch worsted weight sock pattern to toe up magic loop, and am very pleased with the result. Mr Knits himself likes how the sock fits - he says it feels more shaped than "your usual floppy sock." A man's sized sock used about 125 grams of Trenton, so 3 balls would make two pairs of socks. The pattern will be available tomorrow.
Last weekend I visited my grandson - here's a shot of him and his "Wiggles". He loves the Wiggles and has several of their DVDs. I can't say "Fruit salad, please" in a restaurant without one of the Wiggles' songs "Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy" going through my head in a continuous loop! For those who don't know the Wiggles - they're an Australian group of men who entertain and educate kids. I wish they were around for my kids....way more entertaining than Mr Rogers or Sesame Street.
And finally, here's Molly - 6 months old. She is still the sweetest, rambunctious puppy. Other than her propensity for eating or chewing on everything within reach, she's the best. This photo was taken just after returning from a long walk.
