If it was any more fun, it would have been illegal!

On Friday July 10th and Saturday July 11th, I had two groups visit the shop. I put on a toe up sock class on Friday and a dyeing workshop on Saturday. The toe up group came from Pembroke, and the Saturday group came from Ottawa. Thanks to Lynn and Steph for organizing these excursions. Both groups are coming back in the fall for more. Of course I didn't get any photos, but if you're on ravelry you can view some of the finished dyeing projects in the Ottawa Knitknites group - just look for the thread The Great Dyeing Adventure

Some other news that has me all giggly is that Pam & Dave Van Stralen from Louet came to see me on Saturday and a whole bunch of rovings are on their way to my shop right now. I really want to learn to spin and put my little spinning wheel to good use. I'll be teaching Pam and her friends toe up socks too in the fall.

On July 18th, our local garden club - Land O' Lakes Horticultural Society - held its first garden tour and it was a resounding success! We hope for 25 people to tour the gardens and ended up with 99! We had presold around 18 tickets and there were a few people at the door at 10 am Saturday to purchase tickets. So imagine my surprise that at 10:18 am Lynn called me to see if I could print up some more tickets. We served homemade scones with creme fraiche, lemon curd and strawberry rhubarb jam, tea, & lemonade. Once again, I didn't get any photos even though I have three digital cameras! The Barrie township hall was transformed into a lovely tearoom.

However, I did visit my son and daughter in law and grandson this past weekend and had such fun. Molly the puppy is rapidly turning into Molly the horse. I do have photos of Robbie and Molly - but the camera is at home! I will upload the photos tomorrow.

On the knitting front, progress is being made on the Big Brother shawl. Every summer, I am hopelessly addicted to the Big Brother television show, and it is a total waste of time. So I knit a shawl while watching it. Three hours a week for about 12 weeks. This years project is the Cape Point Shawl. I have had this shawl in my queue since the fall of 2004. I'm using Manos Del Uruguay colour 106, Nashua Hand Knits Creative Focus Chunky in Brick and Rust, and Kraemer Mauch Chunky in Black. Of course, no photos yet! The shawl starts out with 5 stitches, and ends up with 387 stitches on the needle. I have about 200 on now, and each row is taking about 12 minutes to complete so I only get 4 or 5 rows done each episode. But it is an easy knit so I can concentrate on all the backstabbing!

Have a great week and I'll try to post soon.
