Spring's coming......

And here's a preview of it – my “Evelyn” rose in 5 stages of bloom from tight bud to full bloom.
Okay, the photo was taken last fall, but isn't it gorgeous? Spring's only a month away.

The Entrelac workshop went fabulously well. Everyone finished at least two rows before leaving on Saturday, and their work was beautiful.

Here are some of the participants on Saturday: Virginia, Monica, Lee and Katie . (I didn't realize how shabby our lesson room looks – I need to get the paint cans out soon and tidy up that slatwall!)

A second March workshop has been added due to popular request - “Learn to Dye using Acid Dyes” will be presented on Saturday, March 28th starting at 11:00 am and going until your yarn is done. You will learn three methods of dyeing: immersion, dip and hand painting. Bring a crockpot (that you will never use to cook food in again), rubber gloves, tongs, wooden or plastic spoons, and wear clothing you don't mind getting splattered. Cost of the workshop is $20, which covers materials (yarn, dyes, mask, etc). Class is limited to 6 participants. Let me know as soon as possible as this class is already half full. Here's an example of some bulky unspun wool I dip dyed today while the snow was falling.

We already have 6 chemo caps in the basket. Thanks to all who have decided to help out with the project. There are patterns available for men, women and children as well as the Butterfly Super 10 cotton. Just come in and sign out a ball, take a pattern and knit a hat. The knitter who completes the most hats (over 5) will receive a Log Cabin Yarn's gift certificate. The contest runs until April 21st, 2009.

Tomorrow, I'm meeting up with some other LYSO* for lunch and discussion. We met on Ravelry, and I am so looking forward to this little excursion. We're meeting at Ellen's shop in Uxbridge, On the Lamb, around noon, and then we'll be going to lunch. I'm sure it will be a wonderful afternoon. I must remember to bring my camera!
