Blue no more...
a new coat of paint - Sprig of Ivy to be precise. So the bright robin's egg blue (which I have always hated) is almost gone. I keep going outside to see how much is done. As I type this, there is no blue remaining on the front of the building. The front door will be painted a deep sage green, so it will all look so lovely! I bought the paint at Lowes in Belleville - it's Valspar all weather, self priming exterior paint and I can't recommend it highly enough. It covers the blue in one coat.
In other news, several new shades of Marble DK and Marble Chunky arrived yesterday, as did the gift items I ordered earlier this month.
The newest Debbie Bliss magazine arrived on Wednesday and sold out on Thursday - I have ordered more. They should be here early next week.
There are several sweater/cardigans I would like to knit up, as well as a Union Jack pillow that I am going to knit up as a tea cosy. And the Interweave Knits magazine also came in on Wednesday - and sold out on Thursday. More are coming with the replacement Debbie Bliss mags.
I have already started a vest project from the Knits mag.
I'm knitting it in a peachy, pinky shade of Freedom Wool by Twilley's - it's knit in the round with a grand total of 130 stitches for the body. I think it might just be a quick knit, if my knitting ADD doesn't kick in and make me start another project! It would be nice to have something warm and wooly to wear this fall - other than hand knit socks. Of course, I will have to knit a matching pair of socks though.
The newfie socks are coming along well - I need to take a few photos of them to post here, but they are almost done. Perhaps tonight I shall get them finished and photographed.
I attempted to teach the "One Row Below" stitch at knitting on Thursday, and can't really assess how I did - the shop was too busy with customers to spend enough time teaching! I think some of the ladies mastered it. I sure hope so. This coming Thursday we are going to make labels to sew inside our knitted projects so people know what the item is made of and how to care for it. The email list will get a request for info they want included on their label so we don't spend too much time mucking about on Thursday. Everyone will get to take home at least three custom labels and the knowledge to make more as they need them.
I'm going to Toronto on Sunday to visit my son, Matty, and his charming bride Terri at their new home. I am so excited to see it and them! I will give a full report on my return.
Have a great weekend!
