Yarn Tasting!

What are all these pretty bags for? And who are they for?

Well, on Thursday May 14th from 1:30 pm until 6 pm and on Saturday, May 16th from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, we are hosting a Yarn Tasting featuring new 10 yarns from SR Kertzer and Stylecraft. There are only 15 of these gift bags (and here's a peek inside one of them), so please email me to reserve you a place at the tasting. As well as sampling new yarns, there will be some yummy treats and beverages too.

I spent last weekend attending the Spring Open Houses at my distributors in Toronto. Kertzer, though, was my favourite. It was the first time I had ever received a sample bag with the new yarns so I could play with them later. It's so hard to remember all the great yarns you see in one day. Needless to say, they got the lion's share of my yarn budget.

I also picked up a bunch of Noni knitting patterns. Some are outrageous and some are downright beautiful. I love making felted flowers, and these patterns feature embellishments. The hardware used on the bags is coming in soon too.
I have been busy rearranging the shop (yes, again!) as I bought so much new yarn in the past month, and I wanted to move my cash desk....so I acquired some lovely shelving from Zellers (of all places!) The shop is looking much roomier now, and the sock yarn is now front and centre, sorted by weight, fibre and colour. I hope you find the change good. I also had another shipment of Addi Turbos arrive in 60, 80 and 120 cm (24, 32, 47 inch) lengths in all sizes from US 0 to US 12 (2.0 mm to 8.0 mm). Here's a photo taken from the front entrance.

Here's the sock yarn section:

A wall of Ella Rae and Shepherd Classic 100% wool - over 50 colours!

There are some new arrivals in the sock area too - Regia 6 ply Silk (9 solid shades, and Regia Kaffee Fassett designer 4 ply (5 shades). One sock is already knitted in the Regia Silk 6 ply, and I should be casting on one of the Kaffe Fassett yarns this weekend.

Finally, here's Molly, the new shop assistant. Actually Molly is my son's 3 1/2 month old Golden Retriever puppy. She is an absolute delight! Even Norma Jean and Emma liked her - and they don't like any other dogs! So, if you happen to be driving along Hwy 41 this afternoon or tomorrow morning and you see a frizzy haired woman being dragged down the road by three blonde dogs - that'll be me.

Molly's sleeping on my feet as I write this. I'm going to miss her when she goes home tomorrow.

And, I just had to add this...here's my garden mulch floating away after the heavy rains this afternoon!

Thanks for putting on this event! It was nice to knit some yarns that otherwise I'd never have given a second glance. The Addis Turbos are fabulous as is the magic loop method, working nicely on my seamless sleeve at the moment. See you soon!
