Whattaweek!
This is my new highway sign. It's only been a year and 4 months in the designing, but it should be up on Highway 41 by next weekend! I simply could not commit to any of the sign designs I (and other people) created. But I love this one. It's simple, and will be quite easily read when you go whipping by at 100 kph.
We had a wonderful Easter weekend with John's son, Cliff and Cliff's girlfriend Kris, and John's mom. I picked up John's mom on Saturday, we went food shopping at Walmart in Belleville. Not the best time to try a pick a few things up...the store was packed with shoppers. But we persevered, got our groceries and arrived at our store around 1 pm - just one hour later than I thought we would be.
Cliff and Kris arrived on Sunday, and we had a great time playing euchre while dinner cooked. Then tht evening we playe dthe TV version of Scene it. Cliff and I were the victors....poor John and Kris think they didn't answer a single question correctly. I think they might have got a few though.
But, my week went downhill quickly after a wonderful Easter weekend. I am helping arrange a banquet for a group of 40 ladies on April 28. On Tuesday, April 14th, the caterer called to say they couldn't do the job! Two weeks before the function! WTF! I scrambled a bit on Tuesday trying to find a new caterer, and after what seemed to be a gazillionbillionty calls, I got one. The grade 9 class at North Addington is going to prepare the meal, serve it and clean up under the auspices of Betty Devarennes, one of my customers and friends. Thank goodness for Betty.
While I was dealing with this calamity, I was also trying to make a decision on darned sign. Then to cap it all off, our float boat decided to go out for ride down the river - all by itself. Fortuantely, we have a great neighbour who rowed down the river, secured the boat so we could get it later.
And then there's little Emma, the brat dog. She has discovered how to open the screen door on our porch and run wild! Two mornings in a row, I could be seen outside chasing, enticing, pleading with the little monster to come back. I was so scared she was going to get hit by a car! But both times John was successful in getting her into the car on the promise of a car ride. She knows when I lure her into the car, she may get a ride, but she will be going back into the house soon. She hasn't figured out yet that John is my new secret weapon for catching her.
All in all, I'm glad the week is almost over. The sun is shining and my garden is calling me. In the cabin, my plant lights are shining on 24 hostas, 5 bleeding hearts, a whole whack of seeds (hollyhocks, lupines, asters, nastursiums, zinnias, ornamental kale and sweet peas) and a rose bush and tree peony. I have some more roots to get potted, and then once the frost is gone, they will all go outside. It's been 5 years since I last used the lights....I had no idea getting a business up and running would take so much time!
So, dear readers, thanks for checking in. I'll see some of you at knitting on Thursday, and remember about the open dye session next Saturday the 28th, but I'll post more on that later this weekend. Take care, and remember to put the sunblock on!
